Jewelry Care

At Aenima, we understand that each piece you own is a reflection of your unique style and personality. Our creations are designed to stand the test of time. Yet, even the most exquisite jewelry requires proper care to maintain its brilliance.

Follow the following care instructions to ensure your jewelry stays as captivating as you first acquired it:

        1. Handle with Care: While our jewelry is designed for everyday wear, it’s essential to exercise caution during household tasks, gardening, or exercise to prevent scratches and minor knocks. Remember, these signs of wear are a natural part of your jewelry’s journey.
        2. Shower and Bathing: Remove jewelry before showering, bathing, or engaging in water activities. This is particularly important when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water.
        3. Extreme Conditions: Protect your jewelry from extreme temperatures and humidity, which can affect its luster and longevity.
        4. Chemicals: Avoid contact with alcohol gel and household cleaning products, especially bleach and reactive solutions.
        5. Makeup and Creams: Apply these products before wearing jewelry to prevent residue buildup.
        6. Perfumes and Hair products, oils: Minimize exposure to these substances, as they can compromise the integrity of your jewelry’s materials.
        7. Loose Gemstones: If you detect any loose gemstones, promptly seek repairs to prevent further damage and maintain the integrity of your piece.
        8. Storage : Use the provided Struktoo pouches to store your jewelry pieces, ensuring they are individually separated to prevent friction and reduce the risk of tarnishing. These pouches also serve as ideal travel companions, safeguarding your jewelry on every adventure.

At Aenima, we’re committed not only to creating timeless pieces but also to empowering you with the knowledge to care for them, ensuring a lifetime of enduring beauty and elegance. Below, you can find some methods for caring for your jewelry in the comfort of your home using everyday ingredients and items you already have.

While basic cleaning can be effectively done at home, we highly recommend professional cleaning and inspections every six months or as needed to ensure the longevity of your jewelry’s brilliance. Rest assured, our dedicated team at Aenima offers comprehensive repair services for all our creations. Whether it’s a minor adjustment or a restoration, we’re here to assist you every step of the way.

Additionally, we stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship with a three-month guarantee against production defects. Cleaning silver Jewelry

All our jewelry is made in 925 Sterling Silver. If you don’t have specialized silver cleaners or special cloths which are infused with anti-tarnishing agents, follow these steps for effective cleaning:

        1. Prepare the Cleaning Solution:
          • Cover the bottom of a ceramic bowl with aluminum foil. This creates a reaction that helps remove tarnish from the silver.
          • Lay your silver jewelry in the bowl and sprinkle baking soda over them, ensuring they are fully covered.
        2. Apply Hot Water:
          • Carefully pour hot water over the jewelry, ensuring they are submerged.
          • Let the jewelry sit in the solution for about 5 minutes to allow the cleaning process to take effect.
        3. Gentle Scrubbing:
          • Using a soft, clean brush (avoid using a metal spoon as it may cause a reaction), gently scrub the silver to remove any tarnish buildup.
          • Use a wooden utensil or your hands to remove the jewelry from the bowl.
        4. Rinse and Dry:
          • Rinse the jewelry under lukewarm running water to remove any remaining cleaning solution.
          • Pat the jewelry dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and ensure a brilliant shine.

Cleaning gold-plated jewelry

All our jewelry is made in 925 Sterling Silver and gold-plated in 18K yellow gold. We do not guarantee that our gold plated jewelry will last forever. While we stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship, we want to ensure transparency regarding the inherent characteristics of gold-plated jewelry. Despite its exquisite appearance, the gold plating may gradually fade with wear and exposure to environmental factors. The rate at which the gold plating fades will depend on multiple variables from chemical products used for skincare, level of perspiration or even your natural skin PH. For this reason, it is particularly important to take special care of your gold plated jewelry. The following cleaning method applies to pieces that feature no stones or pearls:

        1. Prepare the Cleaning Solution:
          • Add water and a few drops of mild dish soap to a bowl.
          • Stir the solution gently to create a cleaning mixture.
        2. Soak the jewelry:
          • Submerge the gold-plated jewelry in the bowl, ensuring it is fully immersed.
          • Allow the jewelry to soak in the solution for approximately 5 minutes to loosen any dirt or residue.
        3. Gentle Brush (if needed):
          • If there are stubborn areas or intricate details, gently brush the jewelry with a soft toothbrush to remove excess oils or debris.
          • Be cautious not to apply too much pressure to avoid scratching the delicate gold plating.
        4. Rinse and Dry:
          • Thoroughly rinse the jewelry under lukewarm running water to remove any soap residue.
          • Pat the jewelry dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and ensure a brilliant shine.

Cleaning pearls

For our jewelry we use freshwater pearls. Pearls, being organic gems, are delicate and require careful handling to ensure their longevity. Cleaning pearls is not as simple as with other jewelry, as they cannot be cleaned with water due to their delicate nature.

        1. Use a soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe the beads and remove any excess debris, dust and oils. Ideally, perform this cleaning after each wearing to prevent buildup. Take care not to scratch their surface while wiping.
        2. You could moisturize your pearls with a cotton ball soaked in natural oil, such as olive or coconut oil, to keep them hydrated and lustrous.
        3. When storing pearls, it’s best to store them flat rather than hanging to prevent the stretching of the thread and maintain their shape. Additionally, avoid storing them with other jewelry to prevent scratching and preserve their luster.

Cleaning gold

We exclusively use 14K or 18K gold, fulfilling special requests or orders. Gold, being a soft metal, is prone to scratching, therefore delicate care during cleaning and drying processes is needed. If the gold jewelry features gemstones or pearls, exercise extra caution during cleaning to prevent damage. Refer to the specific guidelines for cleaning individual gems. Gold jewelry can lose its shine due to fingerprints and daily dirt buildup. Here’s how to restore its shine:

        1. Prepare the Cleaning Solution:
          • Add a few drops of mild dish soap to lukewarm water in a bowl (avoid extreme temperature changes).
          • Stir the solution gently to create a cleaning mixture.
        2. Soak the jewelry:
          • Submerge the gold-plated jewelry in the bowl, ensuring it is fully immersed.
          • Allow the jewelry to soak in the solution for approximately 30 minutes to loosen dirt buildup.
        3. Gentle Brush (if needed):
          • If there are stubborn areas or intricate details, gently brush the jewelry with a soft unused toothbrush to remove excess oils or debris.
          • Be gentle with fragile parts like stone settings.
        4. Rinse and Dry:
          • Thoroughly rinse the jewelry under lukewarm running water to remove any soap residue and any remnants of dirt.
          • Dry the jewelry gently with a lint-free cloth or allow it to air dry.
          • Consider using a jewelry polishing cloth for extra shine, avoiding paper towels or tissues that can scratch the jewelry.
